Many customers want to transfer a domain name to us but are a little unsure how to do it. Well the good news is it is actually very easy. Simply follow the steps below and you'll be hopping over to us in no time.

Important! : Before starting any .com transfer you must check that the current administration contact details (especially the e-mail address) is valid and checkable. The person that accesses the administration e-mail address will have a confirmation e-mail sent through that has instructions on how to allow the transfer, without this the transfer will fail and you may be recharged to try again. If you are unsure about this, contact the company that you are currently using and ask for help checking this.

The Transfer process.

1. Click the domains tab at the top of our site (or click here to open the link in a new window) and enter your domain that you want to transfer to Squirrel in the domain transfer box and click submit.
   
2. Add the domain name to your basket by clicking the tick button next to it. A popup will appear stating you must own this domain in order for it to be transferred, simply click OK to this and continue through the checkout as normal.
3. Once ordered the administration contact for the domain will receive an e-mail from OpenSRS with instructions on how to confirm the transfer.
4. Once confirmed the transfer usually takes 24 HOURS to become active (if transferring from 123-reg or UKREG). With other providers it may take up to seven days (although this is rare).
5. You may also receive another e-mail from the current registrar (the company you are currently with). If you do, please read this carefully as it may contain instructions on how to authorise the transfer request.
6. That's it, the Squirrel Hosting system will do the rest.
