Set up e-mail in Outlook 2007

The below guide will show you how to set up your e-mail address (comes with your domain / hosting at Squirrel Hosting) to work with Microsoft Outlook 2007.

Click the 'Tools' tab then click 'Account Settings'.

Click the 'New' Button in the Accounts Setting popup box.

Tick the 'Manually configure server settings or additional server types', then click the 'Next >' button.

Select the 'Internet E-mail' option and click 'Next >'

Now you need to enter your e-mail settings. These are as follows:

Please note, in these settings, replace <yourdomain> with your domain name e.g. yourdomain.co.uk.

User Information
Your Name : The name you wish to display when someone receives your e-mail.
E-mail Address : Your e-mail address e.g. anything@<yourdomain>
Server Information
Account type : IMAP or POP, this is up to you. (Click here to see what the difference between the two is).
Incoming mail server : mail.<yourdomain>
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) : mail.<yourdomain>
Logon Information
User Name : Your e-mail address.
Password : Your e-mail password.

Make sure 'Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is NOT ticked.

Then click the 'More Settings ..' button

Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab then tick the 'My outgoing (SMTP) requires authentication' and select 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'.

Click the 'Advanced' tab. Make sure the following is set:

Server Port Numbers
Incoming server (IMAP) : 143 or 110 for POP.
Use the following type of encrypted connection : None
Outgoing Server (SMTP) : 25 (Some ISPs block port 25 for external mail services, so if you experience difficulties sending email then try port 587)
Use the following type of encrypted connection : None

Click the 'OK' button and then click the 'Test Account Settings ...' button. If you have done everything above correctly you should receive a box with 2 ticks.

That's it, click the 'Next' button followed by the 'Finish' button.
