How to remove Powered by PrestaShop from the footer

How to remove Powered by PrestaShop™

One enquiry we get a lot is how to remove the Powered by PrestaShop™ from the footer of your Prestashop website. It's a relatively simple edit that any Prestashop owner can do no matter how experienced you are. Just follow the steps below and you'll have 'Powered by PrestaShop™' or '© 2014 Ecommerce software by PrestaShop™' removed in no time.

This procedure can vary depending on which version of Prestashop you are using. We have listed the steps below for the most recent version and a few methods for older versions

Please choose the version of PrestaShop you have from below.

Remove Powered by PrestaShop™ on PrestaShop version 1.6x

In PrestaShop 1.6, you can remove the 'Powered by PrestaShop™' via the admin area quite easily.

Log into your admin and click Modules from the left hand side.

Prestashop 1.6 Modules tab

In the search box, type CMS Block then click the search icon.

CMS Block Module

You should see the CMS Block listed. Click the configure button to the right to load up 'CMS BLOCK CONFIGURATION' page.

Finally, click the 'Display "Powered by PrestaShop"' button to un-tick it then click save.

That's it. If you check the footer of your website, the Powered by PrestaShop™ should no longer be visible.

Remove Powered by PrestaShop™ on PrestaShop version 1.5x

In PrestaShop 1.5, you can remove the link from your admin area.

Log into your PrestaShop admin and move over the 'Modules' tab and click 'Modules' from the drop down.

Type CMS Block into the search box in the top left and click 'search'.

CMS Block Prestashop

Next, click the 'Configure link' under the CMS Block module.

Configure CMS Block

Next to the 'Display "Powered by PrestaShop"' you will see a tick box. Un-tick this and click the save button in the top right.

Configure CMS Block

Now when you visit your website, you should no longer see the "Powered by PrestaShop™" in your website's footer.

If you do not see the change then you may need to clear your cache and force compilation.

Remove Powered by PrestaShop™ on PrestaShop™ versions 1.4x

In PrestaShop version 1.4, you will have to do one of two things to remove the Powered by PrestaShop™. Either remove the link via the admin or if you don't have the admin link, you can do this via editing your modules/blockcms/blockcms.tpl file.

Firstly we will explain how to remove it by the admin.

Log into your admin area and click the modules tab at the top.

Prestashop Modules tab

In the search box, enter "CMS Block" and click search.

Next, click the 'Configure' Link under the "CMS Block v1.2 by PrestaShop".

You should now see the 'Display the Footer's various links' option. Un-tick the button next to this then click save at the bottom.

Display the Footer's various links

If you don't see the 'Display the Footer's various links' link then you will either need to update your version of PrestaShop or edit your modules/blockcms/blockcms.tpl file.

To edit your blockcms.tpl you will need to connect via FTP (or an online file manager) to your server. Once connected, navigate into your modules folder then blockcms folder. In here you will see a file called 'blockcms.tpl'. Open this file for editing and around line 59 (near the end of the document) you will see the below (or something similar depending on the version):

{l s='Powered by' mod='blockcms'} PrestaShop™

Simply delete this line then save and upload the file. Once uploaded, you may need to recompile your templates and clear your cache. In order to do this click the 'Preferences' tab.

Next click the 'Performance tab'.

Tick the 'Force Compile button' then click 'Save'

Force compile

Take a look at your website and you should see the "Powered by PrestaShop™" has now been removed from the footer. Next, simply repeat the above step but switch Force Compile to 'no'.
