How to upload your site and connect via FTP
This blog post will guide you on how to upload your website / files via a FTP client. If you wish to know how to upload files via your hosting account file manager, scroll to the bottom of this post where there will be a guide on how to do this.
Follow the below steps to get started.
Log into your Squirrel Hosting account. Next, click on 'view / manage your hosting'.
Click on the eXtend control panel of the domain that you wish to upload your website to.
Once you are logged in to your eXtend control panel, scroll down. On the right of the page, you will see the FTP details. You will need these to log in with your FTP client
To view your password, click the 'click here to show' link.
If you scroll up a little, you will see in the 'unlock FTP' section that your FTP will be locked. It is always locked by default for security reasons.
Before uploading your website, you will need to click 'unlock' and choose the length of time you would like to unlock it for.
Now you need to log on to a FTP client. There are many out there but we are using Filezilla in this guide.
Load up your preferred FTP client.
To begin with, you will need to type in the 'host' field. In here, you either type in your FTP server details or if your domain isn't pointing to us, enter the FTP server IP.
This information can all be found in the FTP details section of your eXtend control panel.
Next, you need to input the username and password details that were in your FTP details section of your control panel.
You don't need to enter anything in the port number field. It is set as 21 as default. However, you may choose to enter it anyway.
Click 'Quick Connect' once you have entered these details
To upload your website via FTP, drag folders / files into the public_html folder.
That's it, your website will now be uploaded to the server.
Upload your site and connect via your control panel file manager.
This guide will show you how to use the Squirrel Hosting file manager if you prefer this method of uploading files rather than FTP.
Log in to your eXtend control panel. If you don't know how to do this, follow step 1 & 2 of the above guide.
Once you are logged in, navigate to the 'file manager' section and click on it.
Your file manager will load. All you need to do to upload your files is, click on the public_html folder.
To upload your files / folders to the public_html folder, just click on the arrow at the top (the upload button).
After this, choose the files that you wish to upload, click 'upload' and your files will be added to the public_html folder.
